Illness benefit - 6 days

    Hi,

Sorry if this has been covered to death but I was wondering if anyone can tell me why they changed it from 3 days to 6 days for claiming illness benefit?

My partner has been off work sick for 2 weeks and received €31.30, no where near what I thought she would get.

I know the first 6 days are waiting days but for what? What are they waiting for exactly? And why only €31.30, how was that calculated?

Thanks in advance, sorry for all the questions,

    Purple

The idea was that they were going to compel the employer to pay the employee for the first 6 days. Of course that's all been put on the back burner and that's where it will stay for the next ten years.

That's great, who's bright idea was that then?

Thanks for your reply, I didn't know about that.
