I need some wood for Kitchen worktops in or around Dublin. Ideally I would like teak or walnut, but I could make do with oak.

Any recommendations where i might be able to get a good price?

IKEA does solid wood worktops in various thicknesses.

Last summer we got our Iroko butcher block style worktop at Hoeys in Castlebellingham just outside Dundalk, but I am sure there are similar builder / kitchen providers in Dublin.

I thought ikea were a bit expensive. Maybe I should look into getting some teak from a wood yard and getting a joiner to cut it to size for me.

It's all relative I suppose, compared to most solid wood worktops it was cheap.
€120 for 6 foot and €140 for 8 foot, I got the whole kitchen worktop for €260

Just found a before and after

The iroko from the timber yard in rough unplaned form would cost 60/70 % of the price of a finished worktop from Ikea , you would still have to get it sawn, planed, glued and sanded before you could use it, so it will cost a lot more than an Ikea worktop.

    Good point Colm,

I can get all the wood I need from Ikea for €260 - 2 8 ft pieces of walnut.

Lovely job on the kitchen by the way, i like the sink, glass cabinets and hanging lights.
