I've done a little project this week on my daily commute from Naas to the long mile.
All activities taking place while driving at 70-100kmh

    People applying make-up - 8
People holding phone up reading it or scrolling - 16
People shaving their face - 2
People drying their hair with an actual hairdryer - 1
    People eating with a spoon(assuming cereal) - 1
People with ipad on steering wheel - 1
People on motorbikes splitting lanes - 13 (anything above 35kmh is against the law afaik)

When this stretch of road is at a standstill due to a collision in rush hour, i now wonder if its one of these individuals.

the Guards in an undercover car would fill their black books with these people every day, and i wish they would.

    Rant semi over.

People marking down other drivers' behaviours and going "they're all crazy, Joe!": 1 :D

Jokes aside, interesting observation. In particular:
People drying their hair with an actual hairdryer - 1

That person has to be the new hero/heroine...seriously, the amount of planning involved with that (either getting a 12v dryer, or a feckin' inverter) means it's actually a regular occurrence for this individual.

I'd really like to see the Traffic Corps report if they ever stopped them :D

I think you're wrong about it being illegal to split lanes above 35K's

Interesting about the hair dryer, I wonder were they running it off an inverter or was it a 12v one made especially for in-car use.

Even with an inverter, a domestic hair dryer would draw way too much power.

    12V ones do exist, amazingly:

Looks like you'd be better off sticking your head out the sunroof than using one.

I have a 500w one in the shed (used only for starting old cars) :o I'm sure there is a 1kw one thrown about the place as well but I never tried that on my 1kw inverter. Even so once you go past a couple 100 watts the faglighter socket is no good to you. Its possible that the person on the M7 is fairly dedicated to the in-car hairdrying cause and has the inverter on a separate circuit

I saw a woman today driving at 100kph on N road applying makeup, why the fcuk don't these idiots get up half an hour earlier so they can use their time behind the wheel watching where they are going?

Last week a car in front of me on the same road started veering to opposite side of the road in front of oncoming traffic

On the contrary and i apologise i failed to mention, my passenger assisted me in this little observation.
It was only Mon-Thurs this week as he required a lift.

Do you wear blinkers while driving looking straight ahead. You need to watch other cars as well as the road.

And not just hairdryers...a bit of a curly issue on the way to that important meeting? Fear not:

You'd be surprised; I used to know a couple of people using the car as a mobile extension of their kitchen/toilette (having breakfast is a big pet peeve of mine - besides the obvious distraction and mess, what happens if you drop your scalding hot Costa/Starbucks cup in your lap?) and they...well, theoretically, they had all the time to avoid it without needing to get up any earlier; Having a "cuppa and a scone" while driving the car was a planned thing - they would waste time around doing completely unnecessary things like watching the news or checking facebook.

It's a mentality thing - "sure I can do that in the car". And as long as manufacturers keep putting 5 cupholders per square inch with a topping of touchscreens in the cars, it ain't gonna change; Maybe they'll finally buck and put a gas powered stove in as well, I mean...some people like bacon in the morning!
