No denim it seems, just cords

No chance they have the Levi's build quality you'd be expecting. A nice pair of beige with a new pair of dubes. Add the obligatory 'collar up' polo shirt and you'll be an instant Ross o Carroll Kelly.

If you've been following the news you'd know that corduroy pillows are still making headlines.

I love cords. need a new g string though.

I had a look at them this evening and they are manky. If you saw them on a stall in a market you would be sure they were knock offs.

Are they aul baggy things or what?

The material is very thin and they just look thrown together. I actually went into Heatons to grab a pair as I generally like Levi's and don't mind cords, but they just look gank.

Heatons in midleton co cork had Levi jeans for €14 last week, yellow but good quality Levi's

A rag trade term, where the original specs are used very economically to produce additional garments from the same amount of materials. Resulting in garments that are not made to true specification, typically lower quality zips, buttons, seams are smaller than normal, the length seems short, very little finishing or QA applied overall.

Inclined to produce flatulence? Must be why people refer to me as 'the old fart in the cords'

I'm off to buy one of each......

Are levis just another name that sports direct et al. borrow from time to time like Kappa and Karrimor and slazenger (who were all the rage in my youth) to knock out very cheap stuff, only with a half decent label.

Must be at those prices or they didn't pass Quality control

He 501s I picked up in Middleton heatons are perfect exactly the same quality as I've got locally for €90
The cords maybe different but imo cords are crap quality anyway
karrimor and the other brands are bought by sports direct as far as I know

SD bought a lot of bankrupt clothing manufacturers purely to use their brand name; they also own Kangol I think. I can't say for certain but I have a hunch that some of the products from 'premium' brands like Nike and Adidas on their website are produced specially for SD and aren't up to their normal standards.

You are right I got 4 Nike polos and while they are okay for holiday they are not what you get from Nike for double the money
    Makes sense really

I find their stuff grand tbh. I buy pretty much all my gym gear there. It gets worn, washed and replaced so often that it's a waste to buy expensive stuff.

Ha, I thought the same with a Nike polo I got from SD last year. The fabric was quite thin compared to what I'd usually expect a polo to be, and certainly do see other Nike polos in other sports shops that are much higher quaility.

As said, SD own a lot of brands now, including Kangol, Firetrap, Slazenger, Dunlop, Karrimor, Everlast and Lonsdale.

I think the general consensus is these Levis are... pants.

I'll get me coat (which is now a size too small cos I bought it there and washed it once).

    Bagpeel? Jesus.

so are these "proper" Levis or not?

surely heatons aren't selling counterfeit crap ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭larrykinney

I got a couple of pairs of these earlier, they seem to be pretty good quality, genuine Levis. I might even get another pair if they are still available in my size tomorrow. How they cope with multiple washes is another story....

I got a grey pair of these today.

I usually wear 501's (32x32). These are 751 label, so I tried them on before buying.

The 32x32 came up a bit long in the leg but a 32x30 fitted perfect.

I'd have bought 2 pairs, but couldn't find another in my size.

Also I've bought 501's from SD in the last couple of months. Non standard colours but every bit as good as 501's I've bought from the usual outlets.

    Very happy with them.:)

No,they didnt look genuine to me.
Very poor material ,I think they are some sort of grey import that Sportsdirect buy.
Alot of complaints about the quality on Sportsdirect reviews.

    Of course they are genuine
How can heatons and sports direct sell fake products
I bought the jeans in heatons cork for €18 and they are the exact same as the ones I paid €110 in Mahon point

Sorry I didnt mean to say they were not genuine ,just not good quality Levis.
The quality of Levi's -- within the same model and type (e.g., Levi's 511 ) -- will actually vary from retailer to retailer.
