We are painting the exterior of our house for the first time, do we need to put a 'primer' on the windowsills before we paint them?

just a new home owner but asked my builder and he said that, with the new paints , you can paint them straight away. i asked a cousin who is a painter and he said the same, advising me to use dulux as he finds it the best.

Yeah it does benefit to a certain extent but there it's not the only way.

You need a stabilising solution on new sills, paint will fall off otherwise.

agree with carrickjoe get a litre of stabiliser and apply first in fact I wouldn't bother otherwise

Would PVA Bond do the job?

I never put PVA on sills, only oil based stablizing solution.
