I bought a Mitsubishi L200 about 6 months ago. It had just gone through a DOE and passed but back dated to June 2015. I brought it for a test today and they failed it on a few things.

    1) Emissions sky high - reading 9.9999 but no visible smoke.
    2) ARB missing! I spoke with a lad who tells me no ARB is not a fail. Can anyone clarify? Here is the pic if the mounting for the missing part...

I think the bracket lower down is for a skid pan??

I know a few guys who remove the Ant Roll Bar to get better axle articulation for off-roading, but they put it back on for the test. If the vehicle was fitted with an ARB from the factory, I would imagine its supposed to be there for a test. Looks like the p/o used it off road a bit

    No, that would be me!

Any idea about the emissions? Tester said "throw a bottle of stuff in it and chance it!"

What year is the truck? That reading sounds suspect to me. Reads like the max value on a digital unit. Might be no harm to put some injector cleaner in. I thought the emissions test in the DOE was for smoke opacity?? Given as a k/mean value whatever that represents.

    Its a 2003, Emissions result says "Opacity (k-mean) 9.99"

The ARB was taken off my Jimny. It actually handles better without it. Less of the shifty wobble in the corner.

Passed its nct last time round.
