So deal done before Discovery's Dee Forbes takes over as RTÉ DG.

Reports were that Noel Curran was to step down in May but no announcement since and he still appears to be DG according to the RTÉ Executive Board webpage.

It's Discovery's fifth agreement with Europe's broadcasters according to the press release
The news follows Discovery Communications’ announcement with the International Olympic Committee in June 2015 that it had secured exclusive multimedia rights across 50 countries and territories in Europe for the 2018-2024 Olympic Games. It marks Discovery’s fifth Olympic Games sublicensing agreement, following partnership deals with national broadcasters in the Czech Republic (Ceska Televize), Finland (YLE), Netherlands (NOS), and UK (BBC), all tailored individually to the broadcast market of each country.

Interesting to see they are doing the Winter Games again, albeit highlights only. Readers may remember the utterly disasterous attempt they made at the 2014 games, screening a syndicated highlights show on News Now, sometimes with its commentary missing.

At least the 2018 winter games highlights will be on RTÉ 2, according to that press release so hopefully that points to it being taken a bit more seriously this time.

Thanks for the info, found a few, starting early May, but no official announcement that Noel Curran had departed
