Petrol Estate

    HI

I am looking at buying an estate. I want a bigger boot for buggies / bikes/ luggage.I am doing under 10,000km annually so I think I am in petrol territory. I want something less than 3 years old, and can’t see anything petrol second hand.

The price difference between a new petrol (with the 162 discounts) and a second hand diesel is not that big when you factor in the finance rates, I think its worth my while buying new, and speccing it exactly how I want. I intend keeping it for a while rather than trade in every 3 years.

I am leaning towards at a new leon estate, but the biggest petrol version is the 1.2TSI 110bhp, or the 2.0 TSI 290HP which is out of my price range. The uk market has a 1.4 TSI with 150 hp but I can’t get it here.

Am I correct to stay away from Deisel?
Is the 1.2 going to be under powered for an estate?

Is there anything else I should be looking at? The octavia / Golf all have the same 1.2 engine, and I prefer the look of the leon.

    No SUV’s or people carriers.

    Thanks

Nah, the 1.2 is a lovely engine, would feel like a 1.6 engine. Nice bit of torque, so a bit diesely but nicer.

There is an Auris hybrid estate. Might be worth a look. They also do a 1.2 turbo, but not sure if it's on the estate,

Have you considered a dacia Logan , she's a cheap ugly car at 12k brand new . I drove one a few months ago . she's certainly cheap in all aspects of the word. A friend has petrol version and he swears its a great car and can fit the entire world in the boot .

Have you been onto Seat to see can they get you an FR ST in petrol? They might be able to get you one special order.

You can get the Ibiza FR ST in a 1.2tsi

    Thanks for all the replies.

I'll know in about 8-10 weeks if the petrol 1.2 110bhp is ok. :)

Seat garage said there was no way I could get the petrol FR without importing it in myself from the UK, it was UK market only.

I think I'd always have buyers remorse with the Dacia. The cheap inside would just annoy me. I intend keeping car for the next 7 or 8 years, so its a long time for regrets.

The astra looks nice, and they also have 150PS 1.4 on the sri trim , I read a couple of reviews but I think it was for the older model. I may have dismissed it a bit too quickly looking at it now, but I prefer the look of the leon.
