    Hi All,

I need to get some motorised values/actuators installed for my zoned heating which i will then manage using a couple of nests (3 zones).

I currently have manual valves, can anyone recommend which brand is reliable? i only need 2 -port versions, i guess i should get ones that have replaceable actuators.

    Welcome any recommendations on reliability.

    thanks
    eoin

Danfoss and Myson are the two makes that I prefer.

I agree 100% with KF here.
They are reliable brands, around a long time, so no worries about spare parts, this is a 20 year plus investment expectation so you don't want any issues.
Yes they command a premium price, a small portion of which is brand, the rest is tech, but they are "fit and forget" .

Interesting that you will shell out serious mula for the two or 3 nests, which are probably 99% brand and 1% tech :D, and then potentially compromise the installation with some CCC.

Like a lot of things, you defo don't get what you don't pay for

I keep a stock of €1.00 micro switches so every failure can be repaired. 99% of failures are the micro switches? The Tech is all well and good but if one component is cheap it is the weak link. I have Danfoss and replaced several micro switches. It's a 10 minute job now.

i dont mind paying for them, as i agree, its all about reliability. im getting one of the nests free from ESB for moving back to them, i have 3 zones, so need 2 of them......and cant afford an Evohome. i intend to claim back the cost of the additional nest and the motorised valves from the grant scheme.....

Grand, just realise that the grant gets added on to the price of the quotes...

It is a scandal in this country that the recipient of grant supported schemes has to tell the supplier that this is the case.
    Same with the HRI scheme.

not sure what you mean about the grant getting added onto the price of the quotes?

If you go to a supplier for a Solar system and apply for a grant to reduce the cost of the installation the installer will quote you a price based on the fact you are going to get €800 back in a grant so they bump the price up by €800 so they get the full benefit of the grant as extra profit. You are better off going to an installer/supplier that will give you a price net of any grant option. ie. Do not apply for a grant and get the system installed by an honest trader who will likely do a better job.
That saves you filling in all the forms!

Where is a good place to get a honeywell mid position valve in Dublin?
Someone mentioned a place in Blanchardstown, but I cant recal the name
I though honeywell would have been up there with Myson and Danfoss?

Doesn't ring a bell but worth a try, thanks.
I thought it was like cpc or dpc, in blanch, (not dpl in kilmainham though).

How would Honeywell rate in comparison to myson & danfoss? I thought Honeywell was the number one component maker, and maybe a price to match!

Which would be the best? Honeywell, myson or danfoss? For a mid position valve? Or would they all have their own pros and cons,
I'm expecting I'll be looking at €75 ish for the whole valve and motor,
