Question about a connecting flight at Stansted Airport

    Hi guys,
I have never used a connecting flight before so am not familiar with the setup, but soon I intend to fly from Cork to Nürnberg via Stansted.
There is a 6 hour layover between flights so I don't have to worry about time, but I am just wondering what do I do when I arrive in Stansted?
Do I just exit out through the arrivals hall as usual and start the trip from scratch at departures again with security check, etc or is there a flight transfer line I can follow once I get off the plane there?
Any advice would be appreciated, cheers!

Ryanair don't do connections so it is a whole new flight, at least in theory. It's a while since I've been in Stansted but last time we were shuffled to the side of emigration with our boarding passes being checked and straight into baggage area so there was no option to stay airside.

I think you have to exit and re enter again through the security, etc. It's not like some airports where you can stay airside.

Thanks folks, yeah I pretty much thought I'd just have to exit and go through departures again.
It will kill some of the time anyway I guess!

Jebus. Six hours is an awful lot of time to kill, especially at Stanstead. There is a Hilton Hotel a couple of miles away & they have a shuttle bus that does runs to/from the airport on the half hour. I'd jump on that & go have a drink & a bite to eat, in far nicer surroundings than the Departure gates of Stanstead. They have free wifi too.

Thank you for the tip, I might just do that actually:)

Personally I would give the lounge a go, usually 21-25£. Has food, coffee and wifi included

I had a long layover at STN earlier in the year (arrive 0830, depart 1600!) and went down to Bishops Stortford for lunch, a nearby town. Bus was about £4 something return. Went to wetherspoons, sainsburys etc, then back to the airport. You have enough time in 6 hours to do it too.

I'd either head into Bishops Stortford as the poster above has recommended. Or else you could head over to the Radisson Blu Hotel which is on airport property and a short 5 min walk from the terminal. It has good food and depending what time of the day it is you can admire the wine tower and the wine Angels at the bar :) EIther way spending 6 hours in that airport is a grim prospect....

Just to confirm (having done this recently), its definitely two separate flights. You leave and come back, its actually a very quick process I've done it in 20 minutes but it depends on the timing for security control in Stansted. Since they added new shops in Stansted they force you to walk through them all so you can shop.

Just a word of warning, the return takes much longer as you need to go through passport control after the first flight coming from Germany, that can be a long queue, on a bad day 30 minutes or so.

    Good Luck
