Quick clamping question (Yes I am clamped)

Quick question for you fine folks here!

I've just been clamped in a public car park here.

The interesting twist here is that I have a permit/pass to park in this car park which is a small disk that I usually leave on my dashboard. I must have knocked it off somehow this morning.

Has anyone any experience with what happens here? Am I likely to be charged still to unclamp the car? or is the failure to display my permit a clamp-able offence?

    Cheers,
    Red

The whole point of having something to display is to display it, so technically you were in the wrong.

Clampers will usually go by the letter of the law. He'll say something like, 'sorry fella, I've had to come back out to get the clamp removed. I'd no way of knowing you had a display allowing you to park there.'

The word offence would imply that there is a legal framework surrounding your unfortunate clamping.

id be putting the permit back in the window of the car and calling them all pissed off and tell them to come out and see your permit. Failing that ask for an email address to email a picture of it , then have the clamp removed.

Do not give them money. Their "appeals" process is a waste of time.

Technically it's herself who is clamped and she's already gone ahead and paid to get it off. No interest in hearing what we had to say. I've had her take pics with the above advice though and hopefully (but not too hopefully) I may get it through the appeals process

    Your choices are were...
1 - Pay the money and then appeal
2 - Cut off the clamp

The clampers will have taken a photo of the car already with missing disc/ticket so that excuse won't work.

The appeals process is a sham.
We had a very genuine case dismissed by them recently
The missus text the wrong reg number and corrected it 5 minutes later
The appeals board is run by the same people doing the clamping

If your first appeal fails you may just have to suck it up and move on
