iPhotos/iCloud - confused

So I signed up for 50GB on iClould. Have all my photos on iPhotos but also have then backed up in folders on iCloud.

Sometimes though on my iPhone, my entire library is visible and other times it's not, only some photos.

Is there anyway to view the 'cloud' version on your phone, or is that what I'm seeing when I open the photos app? I' guessing it doesn't work like a back up type solution like Google photos?

For example, if I delete a photo from my phone, it gets deleted everywhere?

You can see what's stored in the cloud by logging into iCloud.com on a PC or Mac. But yeah, if iCloud Photo Library is enabled on your iPhone and computer, the results should be the same. It syncs any changes you make across devices and the cloud. But if you tell it to "optimise storage" it will only download full resolution versions of photos to your devices as it needs to.

iPhoto for Mac is discontinued btw and doesn't support iCloud Photo Library. I assume you mean Photos for Mac or just the iOS Photos app.

Exactly what I meant. Thanks :)

So there's no way of having new photos I take upload to iCloud and have my whole collection there without have every photo I have on iCloud shown on my photos app on my iPhone?
