School uniform policy

My son came home from school yesterday with the top button of his shirt closed. I always leave it opened as its a bit tight. The rest of his uniform is perfect. A teacher out in yard called him over and buttoned it up. It was a very hot day and he was comfortable for the rest of the day. He is only 5yrs old. What's the general. Taught on this?? Is it mandatory to have the top button of his shirt buttoned up??

Seems very over the top, especially for a 5 year old. Maybe check the official policy for the school and if it's not specified, mention it to his teacher as to the reasons why he leaves it unopened.

My partner spoke to the principal and her reply was to buy a short that fits the child properly. She did not see an issue with this. She also said that my son should of complained that the shirt was too tight. My son wouldn't dare talk back to a teacher. He is quite shy and would say nothing.

If the uniform is a buttoned up shirt with tie then you should have it buttoned. At 5 they all feel a little uncomfortable at first, but soon they get used to it.

My eldest can not cope with the top button closed at all and has never closed it .
In this weather ours are allowed to wear shorts and school tshirt to school.

Tell the teacher to keep her hands to herself.

We removed the top buttons from his shirts so that it won't happen again. I wouldn't of minded so much if it was cold out but it was a hot day yesterday
