Vbox gateway?

I am interested in this receiver, it seems to provide Sky Plus functionality but it also has apps for Kodi, Android, IOS etc. It allows multiple room viewing over our home Ethernet and Wi-Fi network, although as we have satellite and saorview cable in place I am considering whether it would be better to place a Vbox at each TV, to reduce load on the network, especially when UHD is broadcast, and also to make sure each of the three TVs could watch any channel at the same time, and more than one channel could be recorded at the same time. I am still trying to work out the limitations.

Has anyone experience with a Vbox gateway?

I'm not sure what the advantage is in having several of these operating separately.

Would you not be in a better position upgrading the network cabling (if necessary) and keeping a main streaming server, with multiple tuners) for all usage points?

The network is Cat6 running to a gigabit switch so it should be okay. The Vbox for Ireland comes with one tuner for satelite and one for saorview. I am just not sure whether or not that means we can watch any channel on each of the three TVs at the same time.

Each tuner is usually just one or two channels at a time, right?

Each tuner should make available all channels on the tuned mux (Terrestrial) or transponder (Sat).
Multiple clients should be able to view any or all channels on the tuned mux/transponder.

I have no idea if there are any limitations in that box .... I suspect not.

Saorview has two muxes, so only the channels on one of them can be viewed at one time. With two DVB-T tuners all Saorview channels would become available simultaneously.

I hope that explains it, as I see it.

I bought 2 of the VBox. The first one failed when I was moving house. If the unit is left unpowered as mine was for a couple of months, a crowbar kicks in and short circuits the system. So I bought another one, and had miserable viewing with it. The SAT and T both suffered from lock issues after about 8 hours. I would not advice buying this. As well when I got to support, they said that I was not using the original power supply - Strange - it's 12V 2.5A.
I recently bought ZGemma H2H and am pleased with it. I installed Wooshbuild (check YouTube) and I get 7 days EPG. I can watch easily on my TV and iPhone/iPad. For which I bought BlackBox from App Store. Very pleased. I watch a recording as and when I please on TV and at the same time watch another channel on my other devices.
I have a hard disk 500GB installed as well.
I have a MAC system and had problems for months to view in Safari. No problem with ZGemma using WebIf on my MAC.
On Windows, with ZGemma, only Chrome supports viewing in the browser. An plugin needs to be downloaded.
ZGemma is so cheap for the price of 1 VBox, I can easily get 2 of ZGemma H2H with supports DVB-S2 and DVB-T and multi viewing. I have tried 2 DVB-T channels at the same time as well as DVB-S2 and DVB-T or two DVB-S2 at the same time.
I'll be trying 3 channels viewing at the same time soon.
Just a note even when the STB is on standby, I can access the channels and 7 days EPG remotely. The system BlackBox also supports 3G viewing, but haven't tried it. The App description appears to support it.
