Ordering windows: how long lead time?

Does anyone know how long it takes to get windows delivered once they are measured and ordered?

A rep from a well-known southern window/door/joinery company said 'two weeks' but our builder said to allow four weeks.

Anyone have first-hand experience of this?

We're planning an extension and this is not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things. But if it's likely to be more than a couple of weeks we might look to plan our holidays around it and/or stay with family. Having the back of the house open is not ideal, particularly if the weather is not great.

Between 2 and 3 weeks would be normal enough. Most manufacturers close for builders holidays during the summer. Check with the rep if they are closing. Might have an effect on when your windows are ready

    Thanks Wadpie,

Good point about holidays. Will check that.
