    Hi All

I had at look at changing the battery in our car and noticed it has a battery with the small terminals.

Is this a sign the car was a jap import ?

The only other car I’ve seen with this battery type was an import.

The car is a 2000 Civic 1.5 saloon.

    Thanks
    Barr

    do you have air conditioning?
    km clocks?

1.5 rather than 1.4 would suggest it's jap.

Plenty of UK & Irish 1.5s aswell though!

Check the engine bay. Theres a blue chassis plate somewhere. If it's on the slam panel where the bonnet catch is, its a Jap. If it's on the bulkhead, it's a UK/Irish model.

Chassis code will be EK3 on a Jap car or JHMEK3 on a UK car

No air con , it has an immobiliser

Didn’t think of the speedo – that is in miles so probably rules out a Jap import.

It has got an “econ” light on the dash which I haven’t seen in other Civics. This also made me think it could be some kind of import

The car has been here long enough that the battery must have been changed a few times. It's possible the terminal were changed during a change.

Why would they change the terminals to the small type though ... would there have been some benefit to it?
