I was just speaking to my uncle and he is having a problem selling Kingspan Shares that he owns. He is dealing with computershare and he has the original share certificates but they are telling him that he sold them already. he disagress with them and they are looking for €164 per hour to "research" this. my thinking is that he could not have sold these if he has the share certs. any advice on how this could be resolved? i was thinking that kingspan would have a share regsitery some where and this would show the share holdings (but this may be maintained by compushare , not sure) On princial i dont think he shoudl have to pay compushare for the research.

Computershare are the registrar so if they say the shares are sold, then it looks like they have been sold. Perhaps the share certificate that your uncle has was reported missing, a replacement share certificate was sent out, which then got sold, rendering the certificate your uncle has as useless?
