Seeking best value sunscreen that works. F15+

    I observe Lidl have F10 500ml for €4.99
    Aldi have F15/F30 200ml €3.49

Anywhere else, what does Penneys sell?

I think I saw a poster on the local Dealz store that they were stocking (open for correction on this one) Malibu suncream and aftersun.

I do a lot of sailing and outdoors stuff..

I only buy the Riemann P20 or the Parasol P25.

Expensive, but it works brilliantly even when outside in strong sun all day.
Doesn't wash off or need to be reapplied. Put it on once and you're set for the day.

Great for watersports hoildays in the med or whatever..

I try get the Parasol when I can cos I think its made in Ireland if memory serves..

I just wouldn't go cheap on sunblock.. its not worth it...

Penneys do Malibu and other more premium brands.

DO NOT buy sunscreen based on price and/or brand.

Do some research. I'm sure there was a test done by some TV program last year with the results not at all what you might expect. I'll post a link if I can find one.

The first of those links has Boots Soltan cream passing the tests, but the third has it down as a fail.....

Both appear to have been reporting on tests by Which?

Both reports are from a couple of years ago.

I've heard that Aldi/Lidl own brand creams are brilliant, and that they're crap.

How on earth are you meant to know???

Second report of from July last year. The third is from May last year.

I've never had any issues with Boots Soltan, or the Aldi/Lidl creams.

I agree with your "how on earth or you meant to know???"

I was just sharing the fact that just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's good.

I use that too. I remember having it as a kid so could head off all day without having to keep putting it on.

    on sale in boots

€28 bottles in boots are €34 in tesco.

€28  Would this not be better?

I've decided to go with the Aldi F15 200ml €3.49 because Lidl was sold out of their similar version (marginally cheaper) + it gets good reviews.
I looked in Penneys, their best offering was Malibu 200ml €5
Tesco seem to have discontinued their cheaper suncare lines.
Dealz seemed to have silly stuff 100ml for €1.50 except something from L'Oreal 200ml for €5 - but i'm not worth that *flicks hair*

    I wasn't having a pop at you!

I agree absolutely with your last statement, but it's a bit of a lottery trying to find out which cheaper one is better - and as shown by those reports, different sources will give you diametrically opposing results

P20 is absolutely brilliant, but completely destroys clothes that aren't basically black, so I won't use it - no matter how long I've left it to dry in it still dyes everything orange.

I use La Roche Posay 50+ tinted for my face and neck while sailing, and it's really really good, and doesn't turn you a ghostly white. Thankfully, this being Ireland, the rest of me us usually covered up (in multiple layers) :D

I bought Malibu from Dealz and burnt to a crisp with it. Bought the dame sun cream over there in Nivea same factor, didn't burn. The only reason I didn't get Aldi or lidl is because they weren't stocked before I left (April). I've used both and would highly recommend either one.

The kids were wearing Aldi's factor 50, not one part of them burnt it's great stuff.

For the price you can't go wrong plus it does what it's supposed to do and keep you protected. Top buy for me

good spot, I don't think I ever saw a P20 equivalent/copy before, at least not a cheap one. The P20 I have is SPF30 or 50 which I would prefer and highly water resistant, that one says water resistant but might not be to the same degree.

Aldi has it for years. They are not in the business of selling inferior products.
Seems to get very good reviews, have higher spf from amazon

Hey Heidi, I've never noticed the orange dying bit.. I guess I don't wear enough white stuff. heh..

But what does get me with P20 and Parasol is that when I slap it on my forehead it eventually gets down into my eyes (sweat I presume) and really irritates them.

Is that La Roche any better?
    Where do you get it?

    Thanks

Its in most chemists, can cost a fortune.

chemistdirect in the uk can have it a lot cheaper.

this one is €19.49 in boots here, and £8.66 on CDirect, about €11.20
