Sealant for a newbie

    Hi all,

Currently when I'm washing the cars I usually just do a 2BM wash with shampoo, dry the car with a drying towel and apply some tyre shine.
Obviously with the rain this doesn't last very long so I'm thinking of sealing it with something. Would I need to polish the paintwork before I go and seal it?

If I did have to polish it I'll probably end up using Autoglym Super Resin Polish (since I already have it). What would be a good sealant to use? I would just like the shine to last a bit longer  I've used Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection but it seemed fairly shoite.

AG SRP and EP are actually a decent combo.
Surprised you found EP poor. It's not a bad sealant. Two thin layers has worked well for me in the past. It's hard not to lash it on due it being a liquid, so I usually spray it on with a fine most trigger.

Maybe look to a nano sealant if your unhappy with previous gear.

Most claim To last 6 months to 12 months.

Most if not all would be in excess of 12 months...Wouldn't be worth the effort / expense if you weren't getting that out of it. Quite a few will last 24 months!

Foxhole Norman and YbFocus recommended 50Cal Penta Wax or 845 Collinite instead. I will probably pop over to your shop on Friday and get some stuff :p

Speak to one of the staff there .

They may have a chance to pop out and have a quick look at the paint condition on your car.
It may be as simple a task of simply wash - detar - docon - clay - Wax with collinite 845.

That should give you decent results pending condition of paint.

Apologies for jumping in here but I'm new to all this... Have been using the AG SRP and EP. I'm happy with the results but wondering would the wax last longer and is there a polish wax combo that people recommend ?

    Cheers.

I need to get TarX for sure because the car is full of tar spots and being Silver they are very visible :D

Polish n wax are 2 different steps, there is wash n wax shampoos. I don't wish to go to far in to them other than to say they maybe bit crap lol.

A separate wax or sealant be my suggestion. If done right polish should only be needed the once (until disgressions in paint become noticable) and then sealed with a wax.

AG has there HD wax if you decide to stick with there gear. Others to consider would be collinite, 50cal, Bilthamber, carpro, autobrite and fusso. All these will give you good results.

Apology excepted but don't it again, its very naughty.
