Is there a simple answer to how much you can earn?

Ok so I recently got a job and I start Monday, I was told by two different people on the customer support line I had to get a job and then send in a few pay slips a few weeks later. Ive been told 10 different things but they all seem more likely than what I get told by the actual disability office lol! So I am abit skeptic to believe what they tell me anymore.

1: Does anyone know just a plain blunt figure of "you can only earn this much while on disability allowance?". Because the maths on their site just doesnt add up. They claim you can earn up to 422.50 total income per week but is this gross income + disability? Because if that is the case lets say you are earning 350 Euros a week gross that means you have 115 Euros of "means" so you still receive 73 Euros a week from DA which would put your 350+73 from DA @ 423 Euros a weeks putting you over the 422.50? But it would be the disability's fault for pushing you over?

Second question is I was told I have to start working before I got reviewed for "rehabilitative work" But if I got declined would I instantly be disqualified from having disability as all my income would be means and it says on their website over 187.50 means you get "NIll" payment I want to double check that this means you lose disability instead of it just means once you earn over 187.50 you dont go over 422.50 you keep disability but you just wont receive any payment while you are working.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

Second question first,If you are declined for rehabilitative work that generally means that the work you are looking to do is not rehabilitative as far as the dept is concerned. You will still get DA.

Q 1)If you means go over €187.50 you will not get any DA payment for that week, you will still qualify for DA if your means drop below €187.50.
Your DA payment depends on your means, entitlement to DA depends on your medical/health ect.

Thanks for the reply you are quite the fountain of knowledge on this topic! I was given disability on the grounds of social anxiety tied to me having aspergers being on the Autism spectrum so I fail to see how any form of interaction wouldnt classify as rehabilitative but I am just planning for worst case.

So do you know how they "check" my entitlement I know you said medical but would it be like they review your case after you start work? / Could you appeal their decision?

Just to double check all my facts are straight, as long as I dont earn over 422.50 Euros a week gross income regardless of whether or not the department approves it work as rehabilitative and regardless of of means going over 187.50 a week I will be able to stay on disability (But not receive payment when I receive over 187.50 a week in means) and when I quit to go back to full time education September 2017 I can just notify the department of this and go back on DA without loosing my entitlement to payment?

Thanks again for your help :)

You must get approval from the dept before you start any work!

I phoned them up months ago and I was told to just get a letter from my doctor saying work would be rehabilitative for me which I did and I sent it in about two months ago ( Never heard back) and was told at the same time to just send in a few payslips when I started?

OP just start work get the letter from your GP stating that the work is of A rehabilitative nature, write a covering letter from yourself stating when and where and why you are working include a couple of payslips and send it off to DA.
How much will you be earning per week?

I heard that somewhere else also thanks. I've been told 39 hours a week @9.15 a hour which comes to 356ish gross before prsi and all that but when interviewed she said they had busy times of the year and some times I would work more hours a week than others. Like I say above I've no problem not receiving payment while working it's only fair but I just can't lose the entitlement to it as I won't be able to go back and study medicine full time without that support next year.

So I'm just making 100% sure I can in fact earn up to 422.50 a week gross and not lose DA when I quit next year. I will try contact the local office on Monday when I get some spare time and see if they might have an answer but they never have for any query in the past!

If you earn that much you would still be entitled to approx 70 DA.

There's a person at my work and she's allowed earn €130 per week. I've no idea if this is representative or specific to her.

I understand the means % of 120-350€ is 50% but my problem is lets say I earn 350 euros a week exactly after prsi that means that 120-350 will be reduced at 50% so thats 115 Euros would be deducted from my disability leaving me with 73 Euros disability payment a week.

350 Gross + 73= 423.00 which is .50 cents over the "max income" You see my problem and confusion? The disability is pushing me over which is why I am so confused on how it happens to push you just over the limit?

You don't add your DA to your wages. It's just your wages that's examined.

Em 39 hrs a week, so fulltime? Rehabilitative work for DA has to be part time does it not? Or have they changed that??

Can I ask how you came to 33 Euros? Because on this site here it says 73? http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/1084_Illness-disability-and-caring.aspx

On citizens information it says "While there is no maximum you should use 20 hours a week as a guideline. I presume this means they think 20 a week is ideal but again they haven't stated a max that I can see. Its under Employment and disability payments

Ok as I see it earnings of €350,the first €120 is not counted, them half of what`s left is means tested.
    350 - 120 = 230 divide by 2 = 115
we will presume you are working 3 days so a disregard of €60 applies (€20 per day worked, max 60 per week)
Then get 60% of €55 aprox €33 means

I thought that was just for job seekers the €20? Never knew it applied to DA also?
