75 min connection in Dubai...enough?

    Morning All

I am looking to fly to Auckland via Dubai with Emirates.

There are options with two stops (via Dubai and then Australia) and then there's a one stop option. However, the connection time is 75 minutes which sounds tight to me.

Is it doable and is the level of risk acceptable?

    Many thanks.

It's tight, but they wouldn't be offering it if it's not usually doable. If it's looking too close on the day they will meet you off the flight and rush you through security. Even if you do miss it, there are another couple of flights in the next hour that they can put you on (but you'll get there about 3 hours late because of the extra stop in Australia).

It's doable. I had 50 minutes recently after my incoming flight landed late and made it comfortably. Even if you have to take the train within the terminal you should make it gate to gate in about 30 minutes.

Also, as the other poster said, Emirates are very proactive in getting people to tight connections.

Have done both those flights in the last couple years and recommend stopping in aus. The non stop from Auckland to dubai is a hard flight unless you sleep well on planes.
The A380 is a lot nicer plane to fly on and stopping in aus you can stretch the legs and have a coffee to break it up a bit.

Agreed. I've decided to treat myself to Business, and the A380 seems a lot nicer than the 777. Thanks.

I've done that trip in Business - a pleasure, apart from the Business Lounges in Dubai which are a bit overcrowded and grim. Still, if you've a short connection that won't matter.

I managed an upgrade to First Class on the Dubai Dublin leg back - now that was an experience and the First Class lounge in Dubai is heaven.

Yeah, I've been in them before and they're not great...but too short a connection anyways

There's no comparison between the A380 and the 777 in Business on Emirates. Go for it. If you have enough miles there's a chance they'll bump you to First. They've moved me three of my last four flights.

Any sort of delay though and your checked luggage won't make it.

Really? Even in Business / First?

I will bring the bare essentials in carry-on to cover me for 24 hours in case that happens.
