Being made redundant, offered a job in failing company

I am about to be made redundant, we have known this for some time, during this time I have prepared a business plan, discussed my plan with those who know a hell of a lot more than me and I was all set to start by myself once I was made redundant.
Another company has now stepped in and offered me a few months work (this company is going under as well), the money is good, about double to what I reckon I will be making on my own.....but I know the team, I dont fancy the idea of working with them but as I said its good money.

I can remember a long time ago, either in college of secondary school a teacher told us that we will get to a stage where the wages dont mean as much as the quality of life that you live, this is hitting home now. By working for myself, I will have a lot more time at home with my family, something which I have missed out on for most of their young lives.

Any advice would be great, I know itll only be 2/3 months work at good money but the idea of it is really turning me away.

Have you got six months worth of living money in teh bank, to support yourself while you get established? If so, then turn down the other offer.

If not, then start saving - use this other opportunity purely as a means to get your startup safety net in place.

You'll be in same position now in 3 months only with more money. I'm not sure what the problem is, if you don't think the money is worth the 3 months work then don't do it

Yeah - take a chance and go for it. There will never be an ideal time to start up on your own.
