Dunno if this discussion has been had here already, Ive noticed some of the Uk diplomatic number plates (in the Uk) are the exact same as Irish numbers (on the plate).... see below and there are more examples.....

(142 is Denmark Diplomatic number plate)

    https://www.motortax.ie/PSE/pseVehicleSearchReceiving.do

Note;142D377 comes up as a Nissan Qashqai in Ireland.

    also note worthy:
    132- Central African Republic.
    141- Czech Republic
    151 Finland
    152 France

161 and 162 are not used.

    171 Haiti
    172 Honduras

    181-182 Iran

should of added they all have 3 numbers then "D" and another 3 numbers ie xxx D xxx

    Ireland for example had 185d468

    sorry slightly odd topic

You assume the photo was taken in Ireland.

It would appear there is a steering wheel on the left in that picture too. Coincidence I'd say.

AFAIK all diplomatic vehicles in this country have the standard Irish plates with a CD also affixed somewhere.

Dunno where the photo was taken, I dont think that particular plate is in use anymore from trying to check it. but it would seem from the photo it was at one point.

I'm sure there's plenty of plates which have the same combination of characters within different EU countries.

That's why each country has a slightly different design of a plate, different colour, country mark, etc...

A good example of this is Italy and France. The latest French system is identical to its Italian cousin, save for the country & regional identifier.
Perhaps all EU countries will follow suit in time.

Does anyone know what the legality of these diplomatic flags are?

Was thinking of rigging up a set for the Euros in Ireland/UK/France for the craic, but wondering if they are classed as a pedestrian hazard or viewing obstruction?

Might be classed as a pedestrian hazard, unless they're pretty weak plastic maybe?

Probably why the factory fitted ones cost a fortune as was posed in the luxobarge thread a few months back. They probably are sprung some way so as to bend back if hit.

A pedestrian hazard unlike the whole front of the car if you accidentally walk out on the road.
