ESB on out farm

I have a ESB connection for an out farm and am seriously thinking of getting rid of it as all I use it for is to power a water pump. I could easily set up a solar powered job for about €200. But then another part of me is aware of the ESB connection fee and what if I needed it in the future for something else....

I wonder do the ESB allow you to just turn off a connection (and associated billng) but leave it available to turn on again when needed?

You can be disconnected and just pay a reconnecting fee approx 70euro if you want power back on.
Also a meterless connection available for small power supply like a fence. You pay a small set fee every year.
A pasture pump or gravity feed might be better than solar less to go wrong.
