Looking for a Mk5 GTi with DSG, sub 100K miles.

What should I look out for when viewing?

Should the gearbox oil have been changed every 5k or so?

Prices seem to be a bit all over the place, dealers still charging crazy money on these. A few reasonably prices private sales about

Can't see dsg fluid service being less than 30k miles. Would be very Impractical.

Even 10k on oil at most.

Don't think alot goes wrong with these tbh.
Usual va stuff like window regs peeling interior trim and check service history. Afew dsg mk5 owners past and present on here might be able to shed some light for you.

You will be lucky to find any MK5 GTI with anything near a manufacturers recommended service schedule here, if you want a proper history go to the UK.

Had one for years. No reason you won't find one that was well looked after, they don't need much. DSG oil and oil changes are the main things. As OSI said you'll need to change the cam follower once in the lifetime of the car. The diverter valve was fixed and a few years ago so worth changing that once too, and the PCV valve also. The intake flap motor can fail too, so worth giving it a scan with a fault code reader.

The aircon compressor is another thing was a disaster in the earlier cars. Make sure the AC is working. A door lock went in mine, and some wishbone bushes.
