I started a job recently and really don't like it - I may just leave if I can't find anything quickly, i dislike it that much.

My contract states a months notice (nothing shorter stated under probation period) - if I leave without notice can my employer 'sue me' or how will this leave me?

I really don't want to work another month.

Technically they could but unless your job is very specialised and high-profile it's very unlikely they will do anything about it.

It wouldn't be worth their time, money or effort.

Out of courtesy try and give at least 2 weeks notice though.

You can leave,/ be sacked within 13 weeks with no notice.
Courtesy would suggest a week if your leaving.

Only when there's no contract in place. Otherwise the contract applies.

OP, yes your employer can sue you, but it's a lot of hassle for them and unless you're a lynchpin in some massive project and/or paid tonnes of money, they have nothing to gain by suing you. At worst you won't be able to use them for a reference.

I would go to your boss and just tell him/her that it's not working out, you won't be able to keep working there. Tantranska is right, give them a week's out of courtesy.

However if you're that new, there's every possibility that they'll tell you to just leave. They may even frogmarch you out of the building. So make sure you've taken all your stuff home before you quit :)
