Guys, my mate is looking at one of these.
I don't know enough about them.

In a small dealer but we all know the warranty will mean feck all once off the forecourt.
It's 105k miles, I told him the usual with regards to history, mileage check, motorcheck, but is there anything specific to look for in these?

    Thanks.

Timing chain can give trouble on them

Which version as there were 3: 122bhp, 140bhp and 170bhp.

140bhp and 170bhp versions are a lot more troublesome than the 122bhp version.

Cheers. I'll tell him to ask about it.

    I'll find out. I think it's the 122 version.

Had issues with coils on the couple of A3 1.4Tsi 122ps we had on fleet, but that's about all - no timing chain issues, but highest mileage was 153,000km.

He's not on here. He wouldn't be a car guy and is buying from a dealer. He's looking at an 09 for 7995.

I can ask him about this one you speak of if you want. What's the details?
