The MkII based on the MkI. I think it's one of the better compact cars out there.
As of the engine (3 variants: 75, 90, 105 hp), nothing major with them, as far as I heard they tend not to match up the manufacturer claimed fuel consumption and the EGR valve could be troublesome, when it goes, could be expensive.
The suspension bushing could be on the soft side, they perish early and the frigging bump stomps on the rear.
The MkI suffered water ingress on the rear doors, it was rectified by redoing the sealing on the panel, the MkII may be not prone to it but worth a check.
With the lights on, check the heater control illumination, it's a led lit one (I didn't see mine til' the first dark), pita using them during the dark hours.
Look around the wheel arches, the sills, right behind the mudguard could go rusty because the accumulated wet soil but on a 2 year old car it's not likely.
