Heatons in Limerick (Childers Road) have a rail of Tommy Hilfiger Golf (Polo type) shirts market 80% off.
Short sleeve Polo type shirts, plain colours, black, blue, red, white, green I think
Sizes S M L, but no XL or higher.
They seem to be the real deal. Dunno if Heatons would get away with selling fakes anyway.

    Seem to be these ones

Might be a good Fathers day present for someone.

    Brilliant!

Anyone know if they're available in any of their other branches?

    Not online unfortunately :(

Heatons is part owned by Sports Direct, just remembered that.

    http://ie.sportsdirect.com/tommy-hilfiger#dcp=1&dppp=100&OrderBy=rank&Filter=ASUB^Golf+Polos

There aren't the same ones here but it would mean them being not fakes is more plausible.

They have them in Castlebar store too - colours were red, black, green, pale pink... maybe yellow too. Mostly Medium and Small. Only a couple of Large, didn't seem to be any XL.

Probably real, hilfiger stuff can be terrible quality.

Anyone know about Clonmel's stock? Might take a spin in if they have some.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,368 ✭✭✭leck

Aren't these very small-fitting? The American M is marked L on the label, but I think while it might be an L somewhere else, an Irish L would be more generous.

Might be "made for outlet" versions which are of inferior quality.

Fully owned now by owner of sports direct after buyout earlier this year.

Totally agree about the quality. Rushed up to Charlestown to get some, only had one left. Didn't get it, as it was nowhere near the quality of previous TH polos I had. I'm guessing it would shrink to Action Man size within a couple of washes. Can you trust SportsWorld / Heatons with anything? All their 'branded' stuff seems to be getting shabbier and shabbier.

Only ok quality, got a small but lots of medium left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,153 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

You cannot get an original TH for that price. All SD branded stuff is tat. Caterpillar, TH, the lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,020 ✭✭✭xabi

Had a look earlier, they are branded Tommy Golf, rubbish quality, the non brand polos on the same rack were better quality so I bought one of them instead.

Seen them in heatons earlier. Fruit of the loom came to mind.

What is this comment supposed to mean?
I bought many Fruit of the Loom T-Shirts and had them printed etc- for trade shows- when they were still here. Quality was spot on- price is a bit extortionate, but I was supporting Irish workers. I honestly don't get your comment.

Just purchased 3 of these cheers OP they seem like decent quality to me for the price your paying all your really paying for is that tiny logo on the front so i'd rather get 3 of these for less than the price of one so called "good" quality one.

What fruit of the loom shirts are you comparing to?

They had a huge range of material qualities ti choose from - if you wanted a 1.99 promo shirt, they could do it. If you wanted a hard wearing €30 shirt, they could do it.

They were a factory and made what their customers asked for.

Washed the two mediums that I bought last week and they have shrunk 30% on a low temp wash after drying to a now small size. Even though they have genuine tags, they must be seconds or below saleable quality that the Heatons have picked up somewhere. They will probably last not that long.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭JustTheOne

Lol at people believing they can get genuine Tommy polo shirts for 14 euro.

If it's too good to be true...

TH would never have it as it would devalue their clothing straightaway.

Interesting, my wife washed one of my mediums at 40C and said it's still perfect.

They often sell them in macys at that price so cant see why they couldnt be sold here plus i doubt a big retailer here would risk selling fakes.

They had mens and boys boxers reduced too, i picked up some of the 2 pack of boys boxers for €4.

    .

Much of the price difference between here & US is import duty/VAT, and not within market control.

Very true. I washed my polo in a cool wash and it shrunk by 25% give or take. I have a few lacoste polos that I bought years ago and they still hold their shape and colour.

    But for €14 I guess I can't complain.

You can though, that's the benefit of consumer protection. I don't expect my clothes to shrink when I buy them.
