Just been looking at the draft agenda in Wings - seems like the usual AGM fare ? Wasn't there a proposal some time ago that the minutes of the AGM would be published in Wings ? I don't remember seeing reports published or circulated? I recall motions proposed for previous AGM in relation to the running of the BWI Shop, governance issues and something about the management of reserves , but haven't seen any report or minutes published on the outcome of these motions? I would have thought members of BWI would be be circularised with minutes via Wings etc. Are nominees to the Board voted in at the AGM or how does it work ?

Edit: just been looking at the BWI Summary Financials for 2015 , and back a few years previous - seems like their membership subs and income from their shop sales has been falling in each of those years, but somewhat compensated for in 2015 by a increase in donations and bequests. Challenging times for the financial heads !

The minutes can be got by contacting BWI headquarters in Kilcoole. I put forward a motion. It was deemed not valid because one of the people who supported me had taken junior membership. BWI never contacted me to tell me motion was invalid and I only found out when it did not appear in Wings magazine. I have submitted the motion again and will be at AGM. Heard that Board of BWI are tabling a motion to delete my motion. They tried the same stunt last year to delete the motions (didn't pass!).

So I presume motions pass or fail by a vote of those present at the AGM ? Does the AGM get a large attendance ? Will there be enough support for your motion even if it gets to the AGM ?

When there are no motions (important ones), generally attendances are small. At 2014 AGM motion on management of ECNR, good attendance (30-40). Last years AGM, (30-40). By surpressing my motion people don't hear about it and attendances small. BWI board/management will thus have a greater percentage of people who will vote with them. Only 4 peole backing me, one of them a well known ornitologist (Anthony McGeehan).
My motion is a vote of no confidence in Termoncarragh meadows reserve (corncrake reserve) in Mayo. McGeehan has visited the reserve.
If you can go to the AGM to at least listen to our concerns.
