Booking the band

    Hi all,

Question for those who've gone before me! Want to book a well known band who've been in the business for years. They've asked me for a deposit, but I asked if they had a contract I could look at first. This is a totally normal request right? They haven't been very forthcoming with a contract, but I presume this is standard practise. It's pay by cheque or bank transfer so not even by credit card which I'd feel a little more secure.

Without a contract you haven't a leg to stand on if anything goes wrong.

Our band sent on the contract for us to read. Had things in it like what would happen if there was an illness or someone couldn't play on the night. You will have no comeback if anything goes wrong without a written contract.

yes, its a normal request, an established band should have something stock to send out. There are always caveats, like a band member getting sick/emergency you cant hold them accountable but usually its ok. established bands have lots of contacts and get someone at short notice to stand in.

Your deposit should be safe no matter what and if theyre established and a member of weddingsonline the deposit is guaranteed so check that out.
