It happened in my daughters school. Got a text at 10.50 saying that they had an emergency evacuation and for parents to collect kids. My fiance went down to collect her. Chaos around the school and some ****ing idiot women with load mouths mouthing off that there was a bomb scare right in front of the children.

Great thanks for frightening my 7 year old you cun*ts. The school handled it very well thank God.

Word got around via social media and copycats followed.

Will be caught. Remember when I was in school, some idiot rang in the school on a private number with a bomb threat, took the gardai less than an hour to have the number, dial it and get the idiots voicemail with his name.

I think we had three when I was in the high school. For the last one they didn't even bother evacuating anyone. Most of them coincided with maths tests. It was in nineties when mobile phones were not very common and the last phone call was made from cafe next door. One of the students asked waitress for the phone and rang from there. Considering we spent so much time in there they knew our names it wasn't exactly an act of criminal mastermind.

Gamers seem to be to blame? I know if it happened in our school, as with most others, whilst the evacuation would be safe and orderly, trying to explain to infants and even older children, never mind those children with SEN who suffer from anxieties, that it was a hoax would be very difficult.

No, this is some sort of automated dialer coming from somewhere abroad. It's been going on in other countries for the last few weeks, today is just the first time it's happened in Ireland. 16 schools in the UK got the same call today and 27 yesterday. 50-60 schools in the US also received it in the last 2 days.

It must be costing an absolute fortune. A school local to me got the first threat today and 3 fire engines, over 20 Gardaí and emergency paramedics all rushed to the school. And if it happens again the emergency services must react in the same way because they can never be 100% certain that this time around the call isn't genuine. Hopefully nobody in need of genuine help has died/will die because the emergency services are investigating a hoax.

I don't know how true this is as I am only going by what my then HR Manager said at the time....
But to make a long story short, I used to work for a certain phone directory service years ago here in Dublin. Anyways during the induction week the HR manager showed us the phones and what to do. She then says don't dial out using the transfer function and don't mess around. Said someone rang the reception of the building before saying there was a bomb here. Accordingly management felt it was a wind up... but a threat was made so the building was evacuated. It was a 3 floor building with more than one company so all had to leave. Police / fire service / bobs your uncle come out. Hoax is declared.

Now I can still remember what the HR manager said to this day ... "if only the ejjit used his mobile phone chances are he wouldn't have got caught" :pac: Cause, as you guessed it, he used the companies desk phone  They later traced the call to the phone extension and they fired him. Luckily enough (for him) they didn't get him charged. Just ran him down the road.
