Advice on VU+ Solo 4K Ultra HD Linux Satellite Receiver with RF Out

    Hi all

I currently have a Sky+ box which sends the Tv signal to other tv's in my house by means of the RF outlet at the back of the sky box, I can also change channels on the other tv's using magic eyes. I am now thinking of purchasing a Vu+ Solo 4K box and I am wondering if anybody has any information on if / how a Vu+ Solo 4K box with a Plugin DVB-T2/T/C Tuner could be used to send a tv signal to other TV's in my house.

Does the Plugin DVB-T2/T/C Tuner for the Solo 4k box work the same as the RF Out on a standard Sky box?

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Paddy

It does not have RF out so you will need a modulator such as a triax tri link. RF does not carry HD quality signal so a better bet (if you can do it) would be to get a HDMI router and cable.

Unfortunately setting up a HDMI router and cable is not an option given the location of the TVs. When you say that it does not have RF out does the plugin DVB-T2/T/C Tuner not give the box an RF out option albeit not in HDMI quality

No problem, no there is no RF out. Would not really make sense on a HD box . Maybe a cheaper combo box in each room might be an option and that way you can watch a different channel in each room.

Thank you very much Tony I will probably go down the route of having a different router in each room. Really appreciate your advice

My pleasure Paddy, you can get smaller combo boxes now for bedrooms etc which are good value

Having a 4k box and sending tv signals via RF does not sound good.

The VU+ is capable of sending tv signals via ethernet cable or via wifi to a second tv.

Picture quality on other tvs will be excellent. You can watch one channel on main tv and watch different channel in other rooms.

You can do it by purchasing a second enigma box, something like this:

    and install remotestreamconvert plugin.

Or a cheaper option is to install Android tv box and install app Dream Player.

My preferred option is the edison with ethernet. It has built in wifi if cables are not an option.

Thank you very much give credit

Unfortunately given the locations of the tv's ethernet would not be an option

Is it possible for two Android tv boxes could stream from the one Vu+ box?

You could consider mains network adaptors. In theory you can run multiple devices from one box as long as it has a free tuner to supply each signal. It's hard to know how many streams it can handle at once from a networking point of view or processor power.

Yes, it's possible to use two android boxes. If you have three tuners, they can each tune to different channels. Android connected with WiFi will work fine. It's just the HD channels that might require Ethernet connection.
