Brake line mounting bracket - NCT

Had a car fail the NCT as the flexible brake line on front o/s wheel was bent too much for the tester's liking.

The reason is because the mounting bracket on the shock that the line would normally clip into has broken off a some point. And a previous owner has fudged a fixing lower down on the shock; hence the bend in the brake line.

Other than purchasing a new shock so there will be a mounting bracket, is there any sort of repair that would pass the NCT without the expense of a new shock?

Look for a replacement mounting bracket in a breakers.
Possible even a cable tie might work but don't quote me on that.

Sounds like you will have to bodge a repair on the shock or get a replacement for a permanent fix.

You could weld a nut onto the shock and use something like below to clamp the hose, shouldn't be too hard to do.

The bracket isn't separate. It's part of the shock.

I don't think the lads at the NCT would accept the line cable tied to the shock either. That would be an easy fix though :D

I've attached a photo of the side that failed NCT (black arrow pointing to where bracket is missing) and the opposite side, which is what it should be like.

Just put a hose clamp around the shock and the black brake line clamp. Doesn't have to be pretty, just effective with no kink

D'ye reckon that would be a suitable solution for an NCT pass?

They did seem only interested in getting the kink out of the line in fairness.

As long as there is no kink and securely fixed in place where the other side is, I see no reason why not
