I have a Motorola E 2nd Gen phone which is an Android phone

There is new system software available but apparently it can only be downloaded using wifi.

Can this be changed in settings so that it will allow downloads using the network data.

    Thanks

Is it not allowing it or just warning about download size?

Check if there's a limit set on mobile data.
    Have you restricted background data?

Note: If you're not having any problems with the phone then sometimes it's not worth upgrading, is it Lollipop upgrade or Marshmallow? If its just a minor Lollipop upgrade, might not be of much benefit, your decision of course, but if it's not broken...

Thanks for reply, It is the Marshmallow update.

I get an initial message saying the update is available and then it asks me to accept or not

When I select yes then a message appears saying this update is only available over wifi

In Google Play app I have "don't auto update apps" selected so as to save data. "Update apps over wifi only" is not selected.

There is another option to "Auto update Apps". If I select this will the system update + all the other apps update.

I only want the system update to run. I don't want to update all my apps as it will use up too much data.

I have some apps background data restricted to save data.

Settings, About Phone, System Updates, Menu at the top right - Its in there, probably called preferences.

On my phone when I select About Phone and then System Updates there is no menu option. Instead once I select System Updates a message pops up saying Available over Wifi Only.
