Alternative to Fizik Antares Manganese saddle

I am giving up on getting used to my Fizik Antares Manganese saddle. After 4.30 hrs yesterday, I was totally uncomfortable, especially in low gears going up to Sally Gap from Laragh. By 6hr/146km it was no worse but the damage was done! Do I need a wider spines saddle, more forgiving cushioning?

    Recommendations please!

Did you have a bike fit done ? Do you know what saddle width will suit you ? I don't think (sadly) there is one simple recommendation as to which saddle should replace your current one. I've gone through 4-5 saddles so far and for now settled for Fizik Aliante VSX but I'm not 100% happy about it and probably will try something else. It's pretty much trial and error with the saddle choice once all other factors are correct. For example for me the saddle height change made some difference. But same as you after 4 hrs it wasn't exactly a pleasant place to sit on.

    Thanks Omri
I don't think it's a bike fit issue. Just anatomical incompatibility! I guess I just trial and error with alternative saddles. Back when I raced (late 80's/mid 90's) I swore by the San Marco 'Rolls' saddle. Occasional saddle sore from usual stuff but perfect otherwise. I still have one on my old MTB/commute bike and love it. Maybe that's the solution but there has to be a modern saddle solution!

i recently got a new bike with a Fizik Arione on it.
It was very very uncomfortable, even after changing the saddle height and tilt.
So i went back to my LBS shop , and i was told that these 'racing' saddles are causing a lot of discomfort among a lot of riders.
He recommended a saddle with a 'groove' cut along the length of the saddle. He put a Giant 'Particle Flo' saddle on the bike, and there is a massive difference in comfort!!!

You have to know your sit bones width before you even start shopping for a new saddle. I need a wide saddle and going from 143mm to 155mm was a revelation
