Need to replace the batteries in the smoke detectors (PP3) and torches (D). Need decent long lasting ones.

    Thanks

Just buy the two main brands (Duracell/Energizer) in a normal shop. All the cheap ones are utter crap. Either they're antique battery chemistry or they simply have less chemical in them (weigh them). Duracell also do discount packs for discount shops which have less chemical in them.

Batteries with what you thought were big brands on them are usually not made by them and are also cheap crap. JCB, Kodak, Sony, etc do not make batteries - they sell their name to crap vendors. Lidl/Aldi own brand are better than most of these.

Its worth looking on amazon for Duracell 'industrial' batteries. They do them in most sizes.

For example you can get 50xAA for anywhere between 11-15 GBP (price fluctuates). +postage/free over specified amount

You can see from the reviews they are basically the standard Duracell with different wraps.
