Bought van 2weeks ago up north, thought I got all the v5c for needing reregistering but when I turned up, didn't have front part :( can't find seller again to see if he has it. Phoned the UK and might be 6 weeks before I receive it so where do I stand with customs and my insurance because it's supposed to be 30day max before plates changed over.

They can seize the car. I'm in the same situation at the moment. It's ridiculous.

I'm carrying the vrt amount in cash in my pocket just incase I get pulled over. Will try the ' I'm trying to pay' argument.

    .

    It's not really ridiculous.
You bought a vehicle abroad without taking reg cert which is the most basic document required to use and register vehicle in home country or anywhere else abroad.
    What did you expect?

It's a van. Need it for work and defo not trying to do the taxman. Funny enough, I was actually stopped by customs few hours before the vrt time at nct centre. Hoping I don't get stopped again untill sorted.

He's right op. I feel a pressing need to go and hand myself in and I suggest you do too. Hopefully just some prison time and a few lashes will sort this.

Damn that lack of understanding of the operating norms of two separate civil services. Damn it all to hell!

Apply for a certificate of permanent exportation, V756. You can use that to VRT it.

The six week wait is the issue. Even by email it takes six weeks. No recognition given that you have tried to pay and are waiting for documents.
