Just for information for those of us with a weakness for German bike shops... I've recently had two orders from Bike24. Both delivered within 3 working days, by DHL.

When I needed to do a return (ordered wrong size, nothing at all wrong with the item), they emailed me a bar-coded sticker, and this got me free shipping back to Germany at the post office.

    Can only recommend.

+1 on that, I've had great experiences with them. The last is my new wheels which they wrapped/packed/sealed very securely and delivered on time.

    +1

I got a bike from them 2 years ago and the price, tracking & packaging was excellent.

Are you being charged for the return ?

I used bike-discount in the past, they provide the sticker and so far never charged me for the return. If bike24 does the same then happy days.

No its free of charge. I returned an item to them a few months ago. The bar code label is scanned at the post office and there is no charge. You are given the receipt with tracking details so you'll know when its been delivered back to them.

CRC operate the same return system.

Was only wondering about bike24 as placed an order yesterday (put the cart before the horse!). But based on the feedback I've read they sound the business. I found the prices on their cycling shoes are excellent. Ordered a pair of fizik cycling shoes which were almost €70 cheaper than wiggle / CRC. Delivery charge was only €10 for 4 items.

Bike 24 are great for road bike kit - Bike Components are better for MTB but a bit slower to dispatch!

If one is using bike24 its worth looking at bike-discount.de and 4thebike.de. The first has cheapest shipping and free returns. Prices on some things might be lower than on b24. Theyre very reliable and have price guarantee which means they might match the price if you find a lower somewhere. The 4thebike has most expensive shipping but pretty good prices when compared with the others. When I was looking at repair stand it was just over €20 cheaper than on b24. When buying more items its still possible to save, in my case over €50 with the shipping costs. I used 4thebike few times in the past, theyre bit slow in customer service but other than this as good as the other two.

Best advice to anyone is to shop around. These german shops will save few few quid when compared to crc/wiggle etc but cant be taken for granted - found few good deals on merlin cycles with prices lower than in german eshops.

I find the German sites are much cheaper for consumables - particularly tyres! Usually place a bulk order every 6 months or so for tyres, chains, cassettes etc. Replace all the easy stuff on the bike myself and give the LBS the business for anything more complicated!

Do bike24 send an email when your order is dispatched?
