    Hi folks,

I'm considering pulling the trigger on a 2007 Mercedes E200 Kompressor.

I'm based in Mayo, but the car I'm looking at is in Dublin.
Could anyone recommend someone in Dublin who's familiar with this vintage of Mercedes to do a pre purchase inspection?

Also, I'd be interested in someone based in Mayo, for maintenance and repairs going forward?

Lastly, any input at all regarding these cars would be greatly appreciated! :)

    Thanks folks
    Daniel

Seamus comes across a bit gruff, but he is just a bit old school, very sound and he's a top mechanic. You should phone him for a chat.

It's most likely to be a post-facelift model but if it was registered early in 2007 it's worth checking anyway - does the rear light cluster have a large clear glass centre (post-facelift) or is there a red strip across the middle (pre-facelift)? The late 2006 facelift got rid of the original W211 hybrid braking system which caused all sorts of trouble. I believe it involved an auxiliary battery similar to one from a motorbike and located under the bonnet - the main battery is under the boot floor cover.

Thanks for that! I think Seamus Mulligan is going to be a runner, he got back to my emails and it lloks like he'll be free to inspect when I'm in Dublin - Happy Days!

I figured that might be the case, glad to hear feedback about him. Have you used him much? In fairness he was quick to reply to my email, and it looks like he has a time slot that will suit me. :)

Thanks for the heads up. It is indeed the facelift model, no red strip in the centre of the tails, the front grill comes to a point at the bottom, and there are 3 slats across the top of the headlights. I think there were some very late pre-facelift models that came with the newer type braking system - but the facelift goodies are too nice to leave behind :D

Most of the issues with them were supposed to be gone by the 2007 facelift like the sbc braking problem, also the chain needs to be changed on them.
