Broadband keeps dropping

We're with vodafone. Everything used to be okay and a couple of months ago the problem started. Our broadband was cutting out several times a day and after a few calls, a technician coming out and replacing a couple of things, we were told it was probably the speed and they slowed the broadband down.

When I have it in the slower side, it works perfectly, albeit a bit slow. The fast one is still problematic.

I miss having fast broadband. It's a pain without it. Is there anything we can do to get the faster speed working properly again?

Could you explain what you mean by the above?

There are two slots that I can put the DSL cable into. One side was slowed down the other wasn't. The one that wasn't is faster, but the connection goes down and the slower side works perfectly, but is a bit slower than I would like.

*Must resist temptation to put head through monitor*

I think I understand what crazy shenanigans you're doing:

Full install NTU, Left is DSL(Computer), Right is Phone(Phone).
You connect the modem to the left hand side, its profiled high and is unstable.
You connect it to the right, it shouldnt work as its filtered but just enough signal passes through the LPF to get sync, you get stable 0.3Mb or something like that.

Call vodafone and fix the actual problem and stop connecting your modem to a phone socket thats designed specifically not for broadband use.

When our broadband kept dropping, we had to get a new router.

This was provided free of charge from our isp.

Ask Vodafone on their Talk to forum: http://www.boards.ie/ttforum/1270
