    Hi,

Currently I have standard bulbs in my BMW. It's a 520d e60 BMW 07, looking to change all front lighting to xenon ( ice white/blue ) bulbs.
Has anyone else done this themselves? Or know the exact bulbs for all that need to be replaced?

    Thanks

Have you got an LCI or pre LCI E60?

You can't just change bulbs from standard to Xenon, there's so much more to be done than that.

You would need not only Xenon headlight units but ballasts and a new bumper for headlight washers and the washer mechanism.

Better off just getting a whiter/brighter normal bulb

Proper xenons need auto levelling and headlight washer jets to pass the NCT too. E60 has headlight washer jets as standard even on the non xenon headlights though.

That's what I was looking at online this morning, for that I've priced the front fog lights and dip beams at €60 euro for the ice white bulbs online.

The slots are pre cut in the front bumper on all E60's but they dont have the washer system as standard Bazz.

Why do you need front ice white fog lights?
Leave them as standard so they can function correctly when it's foggy out.

If you do indeed have the LCI model, then you have projectors as standard. You could fit a xenon/his kit as long as it's an OEM colour temp, so 5k, 6k max and you will not blind other motorists but you will have to remove them for every NCT.

I don't need them, I just like the look of them. I don't want them that bright that they blind other motorists or won't pass the nct. I just like the look of the lights rather than the standard yellow look.

    Get Nightbreakers or WhiteVision instead

At that price it sounds like they are just straight replacement bulbs with xenon filled gas to give off a slightly different colour rather than a retro fitted proper xenon HID kit. Avoid the cheap Chinese bulbs from the likes of ebay as you will be replacing them every few weeks or months. You may also need CAMBUS friendly bulbs otherwise they may through up blown bulb warnings on the dashboard.

Ah right, thought they were all fitted with the washer system.

They should be a straight swap for the bulbs you have at present so no issues with NCT, etc. They are a bit brighter than normal bulbs, will not blind oncoming traffic but hey are still more standard colour than white. The light will be better from them but just take note that they can have a shorter lifespan than normal halogen bulbs more so the dipped ones that are used more.

That's all I'm looking for, my title was probably a bit mid leading. I don't want the hid ballast kit etc, just a straight bulb swap to brighten the lights and sharpen the look of the car.

If that's the case then they should be perfect and as above, no need to swap out for NCT etc
