Joe Daly in Dundrum and Think Bike in Rathmines are both good - what part of Dublin?

A bit of a trek but Bikeology in Naas are great, Nigel that owns the place and all the other lads working there are sound. They do two years free servicing with new bikes and I think two years good free servicing is better than some other stores that do lifetime bad serving.

Based in south Dublin but distance isn't a major issue in terms of where I go to purchase a bike

Got my last bike in Hollingsworth. .good to deal with. Number 1 recommendation would be think bike in Rathmines. Give great service and always have been great to deal with.

Agree with Thinkbike - only doing Treks and Ridgeback now in case you're hankering for another brand

Hollingsworth in Kilmacud, do all the major brands and have a great range of stock in store

When I went there for a service, after getting a genesis elsewhere, they said they could have gotten it in.....which I suppose is little help if you don't know about it

That would of indeed been the case Genesis would of course been available to order as well as any other brands carried by this distributor http://www.sportline.co.uk/

Not being smart, but while distance isn't an issue for purchase, it can be an issue for regular servicing or dealing with emergencies. I'd recommend checking out the local bike shops nearest to your home or (if you are going to commute on the bike) your work.

It's a big consideration if you can't get bike into car or don't have a rack. Knowing you can cycle to/from your LBS is a great benefit of buying close to home.

+1 for the Bike Rack. Bikes+ in Greystones too.

Couldn't agree more, its a good idea to build a relationship with a shop and their staff because someday your going to need them for an emergency and if they know you they will look after you. ;)

In case you are looking for "Bikes+" in Greystones the shop is called "CyclePlus". Recently moved off the mainstreet to a location at the front on of the shopping centre (just across the road from the old location)

Both are good shops and run by nice guys.

    HTH

I find the bike rack in cabintealy to be very good, didn't buy them but have got work done there and pick up bits and pieces on the way past.

If your in town then 2Wheels on southwilliam street are very good, they can turn stuff around very fast. I think there part of euro cycles so are felt dealers

    Hi folks,

Identical situation to the OP so don't want to start a new thread. Basically looking to buy a bike on Bike To Work. Based in Ballsbridge so Donnybrooke Bikes is probably closest. Having spoken to one of the guys in there he recommended taking a look at the Trek 7.2 for €585. He also mentioned Kellys Carter 50 (€625) and the Fuji Absolute 2.1 (€525).

Between the bike helmet and a good lock I'm looking to spend between €650-€800. What are the above bikes like? Should I be looking elsewhere?

TOTALLY ignorant to this so apologies if the above is a load of nonsense! Bike will be used for commuting to work and possible light weekend usage around town.

    Any help massively appreciated!
