    Hi,

The above update is now on the DR stream for those of you that don't have it already.

    Hi,

I'm not sure what exactly is meant by "R13 update" or "DR stream" although, I imagine it has something to do with some form of software update?

I recently acquired a Sky+HD receiver myself to watch the Freesat from Sky channels broadcasting on a Free-To-View basis. I do like to keep my existing equipment in tune with the latest software updates so; I was wondering if it is a straight-forward process to perform this R13 update or does it happen automatically when the box is powered on?

If your box is functioning correctly then leave it alone. The updates are applied automatically when the box is in standby, usually in the small hours. If you really want the update you can force the box to do it but unless you have a fault then it is really not worthwhile.

It's the latest firmware for the Sky +HD box. It brings back the "watch from start" feature for movies and allows box sets to be downloaded in full as opposed to downloading them episode by episode although it just downloads 2 then if you watch one it will download the next 2 and so on.

The "DR stream" or "Disaster Recovery stream" is a way of forcing the latest update to your box. Although sometimes it isn't put on to that until towards the end of the automatic roll out of the latest update. Details of how to update this way is supplied on that skyepg website posted above.

I have a second box in my bedroom with a really old blue sky card which allowed me to record and live pause the free channels
Well it did until the last update which automatically updated.

You can get a white card, which will do the same, on Adverts. Costs 50 yoyos.

Would Setanta send out a card and if so,would it work without a subscription?

    Ah grand, thanks for that.

Seems to fix some stability issues. No harm.

I see from the Skyepginfo site that only the DRX890 and later are supported. All older boxes are discontinued.
