    Hi folks,

Looking to change my Mk4 Golf GTI, one of these E200s caught my eye.

Looking a 184bhp Sport model, with 120k miles on the clock.

I appreciate the mileage is a touch high for its year.

Do any of you have feedback on the reliability of these cars, any expensive service/breakdown items I need to be aware of?

    Thanks folks
    Daniel

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

The W211 facelift model (from late '06 or so) is the most reliable car in its class

After a very dark period in the history of Mercedes-Benz from '93 to '05 or so, they really got their act together and they've gone from strength to strength ever since

I have never owned a Mercedes, but as a car fan I for one am glad they are firmly back to their former glory

I'd say go for it, you'll be a happy owner. That said, I feel the prices for the face lift models are still quite strong. Even the petrols.

    Hi Unkel,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I had read on other forums that things had deteriorated while they were involved with Chrysler.

I really like the look of these cars - the way I see it, a Mk5 GTI is making around €8k. One of these has nearly as much power, more space (one of the reasons I want to change) an better suspension (another reason for change!).

Any owners/mechanics on here with opinions? :)

    Thanks
    Daniel
