I'm going shopping for sanitary for our new build at the weekend.
Could people advise me on brands to avoid and brands that are good for:
    - Toilets
    - Sinks
    - Shower Trays / Enclosuers
    - Sink taps
    - Shower heads / units (Not electric)

We dont want cheap items that will look poor and age badly - but at the same time dont have a fortune to spend either.

We plan to visit Ideal Bathrooms & Ideal Standard..unfortunately Sonas showrooms dont open at the weekend so their loss!
Is it worth taking a day off work to visit Sonas? Is the quality/price middle of the range?

Ideal Bathrooms sanitaryware is usually at the very upper end of the price scale, but worth a look around, if only for ideas. Sonas brochure is available in almost all plumbing supplies stores, so pick one up somewhere before they close at lunchtime tomorrow. Ideal Standard would be on a similar scale of quality to Sonas, both having their plus and minus.

    Thanks guys.

My mind is confused after all the options available on Saturday!

We visited Davies, Ideal Bathrooms and Tile Giant.
All had something we liked, some within budget...some wellllll outside budget!!

Would you have any thoughts on what are considered good quality brands for:
    - Shower trays
    - Shower valves / heads / units
    - Hand basin taps
    - Hand basins
    - Toilets

I dont want to assume that just because items are expensive that they are automatically good quality.

Here are my own opinions on the above..
    - Shower valves / heads / units

For me this is a no-brainer.. Mira Shower Valves.
You can still get spares for Mira shower valves that are over 15 years old. Some shower manufacturers don't even last that long.
    -Shower Tray

Most of the time the problem with leaky shower trays is poor installations.
Any solid tray will do the job. I've never had a problem with any of the Sonas trays.

    **Shower Enclosures**

I always try to stick with Image or Merlyn, both made in Ireland.
    - Hand basins
    - Toilets

This is where you can spend silly money, when the cheapest of the cheap do the same thing ;)
Set a budget and buy what you like the look of and only for what you are willing to pay for it.
    - Hand basin taps

Easy to spends lots of money on for no extra gain and again same as i said above for the basin and wc.
Good names to watch for would be Bristan or Peglar.

    Appreciate the tips Flyer.

Is it standard for the Stone Resin trays to have acyrlic capping?

Also, should I get the standard or anti slip version?

Any experience of these slate trays?

Yes, its standard. Stick with resin, don't go for fibreglass or plastic.

That depends. Non-slip is obviously safer, but may be a bit harder to keep clean compared to the standard finish.

Sorry, never had to fit one, so cannot comment on them.
