Enough bales left over from last winter so don't need to take a cut for myself.
Have 6 acres closed off that was grazed mid April and spread roughly 3 bags to the acre cut sward during the week. Have a neighbour who I think might be interested so going to try meet him over the weekend.
What kind of price should I be looking for?

    120-150/acre, ask for more obviously.

Actually if it's only closed mid April and needs to be cut during the week how much on it?

Thought the general rate was 100/acre unfertilized, and 175/acre fertilized?

Ah no its closed since mid April but only spread fertilizer during the week. Was waiting for grass growth as I wasn't sure if I'd need to graze it again or not

If you only spread this week it will be 4/ 5 weeks before it can be cut which would lead it to be poor quality wise as will have headed out and gone stemmy so that may effect what someone will pay for it

Was thinking that. I'll be happy enough to get €100 an acre.
Don't want the expense of cutting it myself and the fertiliser I spread was there since last year so not really looking at that as a cost.

Not this part of the country, and certainly not this year!

Don't matter when you got the fertiliser it is still something you paid for and should be included

3 bags of fert has cost you circa €60 - €70. If you are not getting over €130 an acre you are at nothing. Tell yer man you have spread 3 bags of fert on the ground and are expecting a good yield etc, he might be a fell who is into bulk over quality and will pay accordingly.

It depends on what he's feeding. Not everyone is milking cows and so good quality could mean meadow with no rushes or weeds when buying a standing crop. A bit of bulky silage might be worth more to some people than 5 bales to the acre of the type of stuff dairy men would be after. €100 after 3 bags of the fertiliser would be fantastic value €60 to €70 euro is accurate when you account for the spreading. It's just over €60 in the bag in the co-op.
