Springboard course - same level as previous degree

Hi I'm currently unemployed and 3 months into a 12 month springboard course that is the same level (NFQ level 7) as a previous 3 year course i did. The course is a digital media related one, which is in the same area as my previous course. The reason i applied for this course was that it's more focused on web design, where as the other course only really touched on it. The web design was the main area of the previous course that i most liked.

I keep thinking that maybe it was a mistake to start this course, that i should have gone for a level 8 instead. I am learning new things but the course is 100% online and the lack of social interaction is getting to me. I'm stuck in the house most of the time. It is a part-time course so i suppose i could get a pt job as well.

I was doing okay up until a few days ago when suddenly i kept thinking "i have another 9 months of this to go and it's only going to get harder". I hear about people learning web design in their own time and am wondering if i could do that do. Am wondering if it would be a good idea to pack this course in and get any job available, learning the web design in my own time if i can't find a web related one.

I've been on job seekers for 1.5 years and it's not doing my confidence much good having to collect the dole every week. It's just a painful reminder that my life's not where i want it to be. I'm 26 and have never had a full time job due to anxiety issues. Part of me feels i should just quit the job as I'm not getting any younger and work experience is what i need more than anything. I had a child with my ex 3.5 years ago and have spend most of the time since minding him during the day with no idea what i wanted to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

"work experience is what i need more than anything."

Hi, I hope you are well. Have you tried looking into Springboard courses that has work placement as a programme?

I am thinking of applying for a SB course myself and so far into my research, some of those who did SB haven't got work as soon as they would have liked--probably because of lack of experience.

Im in the same boat, they could stop your payments if you leave the course, theyv stopped mine for less. Could you do volunteer work? I know it's not ideal but it'll give you work experience, you'll be able to socialise and it will only be a few hours a week so it wont be as demanding as a real job, volunteer work looks great on a cv and you can back out if you dont like it with no repercussions.

"volunteer work looks great on a cv" Maybe I should have gone ahead with this myself instead of listening to my Asian parents..... I should listen to my instincts next time.
