Hi guys, have a small project , want to take down a supporting wall between kitchen and dining room. It's about 12 ft span and will need RSJ put in. I want to be sure it's certified (RSJ) . Would the builder take care of this or who would I contact first?

Your builder will most likely use previous works as an estimate as to what should go in. Will it be certified, no, he is not a Structural Engineer.

If you want it certified, you nee to pay an Engineer to come out, have a look, do the small calculation and issue the details in writing.

Probably a couple of hundred euros worth of work.

Thanks, do you mean for the entire job or the engineer part.

Depends, do you want a Certificate for the whole job or just for the steel beam?
