According to reports the national average for renting private accomodation is now just over €1000 per month. The figure for Dublin is €1340 per month. This would appreciate if any poster out there can explain what this specifically means.if it means the monthly rent of all accomodation added together and divided by the number being rented then the fig is only useful for macroeconomic reasons . Re Dublin, the number being rented would be inclusive of single studios, 4 bedroomed houses, two bedroomed flats, etc etc. it's obvious that the figure does not differentiate between the various geographical areas in the city and the various types of acommodation. The figure is therefor absolutely useless to a person thinking of renting accomodation - even though the figures for providing this information exists with the PRTB

    Agreed.

But it's not aimed at them either.

It's an average (type of accommodation) of an average (number of bedrooms) of an average (location). So, as you say, it is really pretty useless apart from be average.
